Artificial lawn installation

Artificial
Grass
High Peak & East Cheshire

An artificial lawn stays green through a High Peak winter, drains in minutes after rain and never needs mowing. Apex Surface Group installs artificial grass across the High Peak and East Cheshire for families, dog owners and anyone who wants a garden they can use rather than maintain.

Why Apex

Why choose an artificial lawn

The lawn is only as good as what is under it. We dig out, lay a compacted free draining base, fit edging and a weed membrane, then stretch and pin the grass so it stays flat and tight. Most of our artificial lawns are fitted alongside a new patio or fencing so the garden is finished in one go.

  • 01

    Green all year, no mowing

No mud in winter, no bald patches in summer and no Sunday afternoons behind a mower.

  • 02

    Pet and child friendly

Soft, non toxic and easy to clean. Dog urine drains straight through the base and the grass rinses off.

  • 03

    Free draining base

A compacted granite base with a permeable membrane means the lawn is usable within minutes of rain stopping.

  • 04

    Realistic grasses

Modern artificial grass has a mix of pile heights and colours so it looks like a well kept lawn, not a carpet.

The process

How we install artificial grass

  1. 01

    Site visit and written quote

We measure the lawn, check drainage and access and bring grass samples so you can choose the pile you like.

  2. 02

    Dig out and base

The old turf is removed and a compacted free draining base laid and levelled, with edging fitted around the perimeter.

  3. 03

    Membrane and grass laid

A weed membrane goes down, then the grass is laid, joined with specialist tape and stretched flat.

  4. 04

    Pinned, sanded and brushed

The lawn is pinned around the edges, dressed with kiln dried sand to hold the pile upright and brushed to a finish.

Pricing

Artificial grass cost

Artificial lawn prices depend on the area, the grass you choose and how much groundwork is needed. Removing old turf and building a proper base is most of the work, which is why cheap installs laid on sand alone go lumpy within a year.

Your written quote itemises the grass, base and edging so you can compare properly. Combining a lawn with a patio or fencing usually saves on access and spoil.

Questions

Artificial Grass FAQs

Is artificial grass suitable for dogs?

Yes. We fit pet friendly grasses with a free draining base, so urine drains through and the surface can be hosed down. Solids lift off as they would from real grass.

How long does artificial grass last?

A quality artificial lawn on a proper base lasts 15 years or more. The grasses we fit are UV stabilised so they do not fade.

Does artificial grass drain?

Yes. The backing is perforated and the base is free draining aggregate, so water passes straight through. Puddling only happens when a lawn is laid on soil or sand without a base.

Can you lay artificial grass on a slope?

Yes. The base is built to follow the slope and the grass is pinned more frequently so it cannot creep.

How much does artificial grass cost?

The cost depends on the area, the grass chosen and the groundwork. We give a fixed written quote after a free visit, and the base and edging are always included.
