Fencing
ContractorsHigh Peak & East Cheshire
Fences in the High Peak have to cope with wind coming straight off the moors. Apex Surface Group installs garden fencing, featheredge and close board panels, composite fencing and gates across the High Peak and East Cheshire, with every post set in concrete and every panel fixed to last.
Why Apex
Why choose Apex for your fencing
We fit new fencing as part of a patio or driveway job and as standalone work: replacing storm damaged panels, raising a boundary for privacy, or fencing a new build garden from scratch.
- 01
Posts set in concrete
Timber or concrete posts, dug to the right depth and concreted in. No post spikes, no leaning panels after the first gale.
- 02
Featheredge, close board or composite
Pressure treated timber for a traditional look, or composite boards that never need painting and will not rot.
- 03
Gates to match
Side gates, driveway gates and dog secure garden gates hung on proper posts with quality ironmongery.
- 04
Privacy and security
Full height panels, trellis toppers and solid boarding where you need to screen a road, a neighbour or a slope.

The process
How we install fencing
- 01
Site visit and written quote
We measure the run, check the ground and boundaries and send a fixed written quote for panels, posts and gates.
- 02
Old fence removed
Existing panels, posts and concrete are taken out and disposed of.
- 03
Posts set in concrete
Post holes are dug to depth and posts concreted in, checked for line and level along the whole run.
- 04
Panels, boards and gates fitted
Gravel boards, panels or boards and gates are fitted, then the site is cleared and swept.
Pricing
Fencing cost
Fencing is priced per metre and depends on height, panel type and whether old fencing needs removing. Featheredge timber is the most economical, composite costs more up front but needs no maintenance for decades.
Gates, trellis and difficult ground are itemised separately in the written quote so you can see exactly what you are paying for.

Questions
Fencing FAQs
How high can my garden fence be?
A rear or side garden fence can be up to 2 metres high without planning permission. A fence next to a road is limited to 1 metre. We will advise if your boundary needs a planning application.
Featheredge or panels?
Featheredge is built on site from individual boards and is stronger and easier to repair. Pre made panels are quicker and cheaper. Both are fine on concrete set posts.
Is composite fencing worth it?
If you never want to paint or replace a fence again, yes. Composite boards do not rot, warp or fade and are a good choice for exposed High Peak gardens.
Can you replace just the damaged panels?
Yes. We replace individual storm damaged panels and posts, though if the posts are rotten it is usually better value to replace the run.
How long does fencing take?
A typical garden boundary of 15 to 20 metres takes one or two days including removing the old fence.
